Reading Comprehension, Essay Writing, Creative Writing, and Grammar

Our English language resources include Reading & Writing collections, Grammar Workbooks, full novel Unit Studies, and more. Whether you want to introduce your students to great classics, like ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ or the plays of Shakespeare, or you would like to explore new titles like ‘The Player King’ (by AVI) or ‘Raven’s End’ (By Ben Gadd), our titles encourage both comprehension and appreciation.

French as a Second Language - for All Levels

Beginners will learn new vocabulary and how to use verbs with ‘Noisette the Cat’. They will build a solid foundation in grammar, and be gently introduced to pleasant elements of French culture (such as food and art) while enjoying simple stories and learning the basics of verb conjugation.

Mini-lessons (with reading and dictée AUDIO files) and ‘Daily French Writing’ resources give students practical skills as they progress to the intermediate level. Verbs Practise Sheets and medium-length ‘Dictée’ resources (AUDIO available) allow intermediate students to learn new vocabulary, hone reading and writing skills, focus on specific grammar topics and practise verb conjugations. Topics include ‘Science et Nature’, ‘Bien Se Nourir’ and ‘L’Exploration du Monde’.

Advanced students will benefit from reading high-quality French prose in texts like ‘Arsène Lupin’ (by Maurice Leblanc). Each short chapter is followed by reading comprehension questions and personalised vocabulary lists. Other titles such as ‘Les Chats’ (by renowned French writer Champfleury) and ‘Napoleon et Josephine’ (from the journal of his manservant, Louis Constant Wairy) allow for ample grammar and vocabulary practise while presenting important elements of French culture.

Music Appreciation, Knitting, Mosaics, Drawing and Handwriting

‘Pause & Play’ Music Appreciation lessons each include a unique, free music file. Children of all ages will be exposed to different styles and musical forms from around the world, with easy-to-use, enjoyable lessons.

Simple drawing exercises can improve a student’s ability to observe details and manipulate a pencil, leading to steady improvements in their penmanship. Some say it is becoming a lost art, but we are convinced that with daily practise and the right frame of mind, anyone can develop a perfectly acceptable handwritten style!

Other craft activities, such as the ‘Learn To Knit’ lesson plan, ‘How To Draw A Snowflake’ lesson, Mosaics (using common household cardboard) and ‘Great Art Cut & Paste’ offer further methods for developing fine motor skills - and enjoying colour and beauty!

German, History, and Essay Writing

Whether you’re just beginning to learn German words, or you’re ready for your first Maerchen, our German resources are carefully-prepared and full of useful exercises.

Our unique ‘Think About History’ titles include classics like ‘History of the World’ (by H. G. Wells) and selections from ‘Adventurers of the Far North’ (by Stephen Leacock). Assignments focus on both learning the facts, and thinking about how history is told.

Essay Writing is a fundamental skill. Our specialised titles include both source materials and instructions, so that students can make the most of their time. Thematically linked texts, such as ‘Wild Apples (by H. D. Thoreau) and ‘Short Stories: Space’ invite you to dwell on a topic you enjoy, and refine your research and writing skills. For High School students with a particular interest in film, the ‘At The Movies’ titles offer in-depth questions and essay-writing guidelines for classics like ‘Singin in’ the Rain’ and ‘Iron & Silk’, as well as foreign films like ‘Strictly Ballroom’ and ‘OMG’.
